I know what I did was wrong but does this justify his actions/behavior?

Every action has a consequence. You lied and were deceitful and really, had to know it would hurt him. You embarrassed him by telling your friend about this behavior, and yes, you did make a major screw-up. Learn your lesson. He doesn't want revenge. He doesn't care about you, so let it go. Just remember to behave in a more acceptable manner in the future.
